The Library provides books, magazines, online newspapers, audio cassettes, videos, reference services, and library programs for residents. It currently owns over 10,000 volumes and provides access to various online databases.
The library has seven public workstations equipped with high-speed internet access as well as word processing and other educational programs. In addition, it also has Ethernet router connections for Laptop access. Resources such as our catalog and online databases are also accessible to patrons through their home internet connections.
In the future the library would like to reach shut-ins including the visually impaired with resources such as books on tape. Currently it has a sizable number of these items which would prove quite useful in these situations.
The preservation of the History of Spring Village is also an important function of the library and as time goes by, it will archive key information such as books, photographs, audio/video tapes and artifacts which are pertinent to the history of Spring Village.
The establishment of the Spring Village Library was done predominantly thought the contributions and efforts of Spring Village Associations abroad. The project is spearheaded by the New York Chapter and consists of a partnership with the Spring Village Development Foundation which is a local body dedicated to the growth and development of the citizens of Spring Village.
The library is maintained chiefly through the efforts of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the librarian or send an email to pothousepen@yahoo.com.
